Sathyam movie starring Tall Dark Handsome hero Vishal and the beauty queen Nayantara in the lead has already completed its first schedule of shooting and is geared up for the second one. The second schedule of the film will cover Nayantara’s parts as well, because she hardly had a role to play during the first schedule. Nayantara is all geared up for the project and has decided not to sign any more films till this project is over and done with. Vishal plays the role of a police officer who is an encounter specialist.

Jaggu Bai which was originally planned for Superstar Rajnikanth has been re-assigned to Sarath Kumar now. There was a huge hype created when poster with Rajini in Jaggu Bhai avatar hit the Tamil dailies in 2004. He had agreed to do the movie under K.S Ravikumar’s direction. However, the project was dropped for reasons unknown. Rajini then went on to team up with P. Vasu for ‘Chandramukhi’ which became a blockbuster hit.

Versatile actor Vikram will be trying his hand at singing with his latest film Kanthaswamy. Music director Devi Sri Prasad has persuaded Vikram to lend his voice for one of his compositions for this film. The film Kandasamy is simultaneously being shot in Tamil and Telugu. With actress Shreya acting opposite Vikram, the movie has been titled Mallanna in Telugu. Vikram is apparently playing a kleptomaniac in the film, due to which he undergoes some problems. Veterans Thotta Tharani, A. S. Laxmi Narayanan and Vairamuthu, winners of nine National Film Awards between them, take care of the art direction, audiography and lyrics respectively.

The music track of Kadhalil Vizhunthen by Vijay Antony was released on December 2 in a function held at Sathyam Cinemas. Lyricist Thamarai has witten the lyrics for the movie. The songs of Kaadhalil Vizhunthen includes an enjoyable folk number, Nakul of Boys fame is the hero. Nakulan is the younger brother of actress Devyani. Telugu actress Sunena is debuting in Tamil as the heroine. The movie directed by debutant P.V. Prasad, has cinematography by S D Vijay Milton and editing by V T Vijayan. The movie is produced by Umapathy for Atlantic Cinemas.

Director Selvaraghavan has titled his directorial venture starring Paruthiveeran fame Karthi and Reema Sen as Ayirathil Oruvan. Interestingly, Ayirathil Oruvan was a yesteryear blockbuster featuring MGR, Jayalalithaa in the lead roles. The movie brought laurels to MGR and also helped him stabilize his political career. The new Ayirathil Oruvan will go to floors this August. A racy thriller, Ayirathil Oruvan would have musical score by Yuvanshankar Raja.Selva Raghavan, one director who does not compromise with the budget when his creativity suggests something more.Recently in Ramoji Film city a huge set was being built up with a whooping budget of 5 crores and it is said that the set will be ready by Sunday this week.

Finally Dasavatharam has won the legal battle since Madras High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking a direction to film certification authorities to change the title of the Kamal Hassan starrer ‘Dasavatharam’ and delete some scenes, paving the way for the movie’s release. The petitioner, International Sri Vaishnava Dharma Samrakshanaa Society (SVDSS) represented by its President Swamy Govinda Ramanuja Dasan, had contended that the movie had scenes that offended Hindu sentiments, particularly that of Vaishnavites.

In a bid to reduce primary school dropout rate and eradicate child labour in the state, the Tamil Nadu Government, an NGO and four Tamil film stars have joined hands to send across a message to the society on the evils.In the five-minute documentary, titled “Herova Zerova” (are you a Hero or Zero), actor couple Surya-Jothika, and top stars Vijay and Madhavan are seen speaking against child labour and stressing the need for the young hands to hold pens and pencils rather than the spanner and chisel.

Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Ocher studio started its production campaign in style with Sultan, The Warrior, an animation feature film featuring a fully 3D animated version of an Indian film superstar. Then, there was the news of Soundarya taking a keen interest in making the second part of the blockbuster film Billa. The daughter of the Superstar, it seems, has taken a liking for making movies the corporate way. She plans for more than one film and simultaneously announces and starts the work on different projects at the same time.
